Did you guys have a Happy Thanksgiving?
Mine was the usual: KFC with the family since we don't like turkey and that's our lame tradition....
I've always envied those with a big happy family like my boyfriend's.
I come from a somewhat of a broken home although both of my parents are super loving and probably are the best parents who are also extremely stylish. lol
To be honest, I hate Thanksgiving. I hate any special holidays where you spend eating delicious food with your family because my sister and I only had each other when we were growing up and it was so boring. Nothing to do, no big meal to eat. Although we always had awesome friends who gave us leftovers. This year being Carol(thank you. We love you Carol. Your mom's the best cook!) Normally it's Sam aka Ham Shin who gives us his leftovers that he got from church..

My dad's brother passed away. Now our small family is even smaller. I went to a funeral for the first time and saw a dead person for the first time too. It was weird and sad. The fact that they're were only six of us was the saddest part. RIP 큰삼촌..
I don't mean to write such a depressing entry but for those haters out there, and who think I'm a spoiled rich girl, now you know, I don't have it all.

On a brighter note, I watched Ninja Assasin, and omg, it was such a good fight movie. I watched it with my sister and 5 of my highschool homies including Ham Shin, and all the guys hated the movie but my sister and I loved it. I think they're just jealous. They have to be. Rain is so hot in this movie. I think I want to be a ninja. I do qualify since I'm part Japanese. hehe

Aimeeways you guys, have a great week & a happy and warm December!
Love,
Aimee

Right now I understand you, I'm in the same family situation. I think that's what life teach us, we can't have it all.

Even though you guys don't have a big Thanksgiving dinner, going to KFC is still a family tradition, right?

Oh, and to respond to your question from like 3 weeks ago: Eastwick was based on "The Witches of Eastwick," which was a book (and I think a movie?) by John Updike or somebody. Shaky details aside, it was about three women discovering that they're witches (honestly, if you watch some of the episodes online, you'll see that they're just in DENIAL because it is SO obvious). There is a villain in town, but they haven't really figured that out yet...

So sorry to hear that, it is always so hard to lose somebody. I know you're not a spoiled girl, you dont look like one.

Same here, my Mom and Dad don't celebrate Thanksgiving (or maybe they're just lazy), so I kind of loathe Christmas and Thanksgiving, two holidays where people gather with their family and get all mushy with each other.

I ended up sort of crashing my boyfriend's Thanksgiving dinner, but they're not big on the sitting around a table and eating a huge meal either. Well, at least his mom made turkey though, so it felt like Thanksgiving a little more at his house than mine.

On the bright side, at least I got four days off!

Okay so I can't say that my holiday situation is exactly like yours...but I totally get what you mean! My family is super small and when it's a holiday I notice it even more! It's so true when people say that the holidays are about family cuz it's no fun when you're by yourself. Every holiday it seems like the same story; everyone is super excited because it's a holiday but by mid-morning we realize that it's no different because we're seeing the same people we see every day. Makes me wish that I had some extended family near by. The only upside? Now I'm more exited to back to school and finals because I get to be with my friends and not as excited for winter break. :)

and everytime my family visit my granparents, there were some drama..so i don't like chu-suk.....all because of my granpa who doesn't like us and it has some long story.
i just want to let you know that you are not the only one who has some kind of family things
i can feel that Lord loves u.hope u dont forget it.

I am sorry to hear about your uncle passing away, Aimee. Funural is no nice experience for sure... I've seen dead people before, but not all were my relatives or even close people, and I've only been to funeral once (my paternal grandfather) but he was cremated so it was a little different from the usual thing I guess. Again, sorry to hear about it and your sad experience. I know what you mean about the whole holiday thing too. My family can't be considered broken and I truly have a good one, but somehow my family hasn't really established any sort of traditions and I don't feel us sharing any sort of a strong bond, if you know what I mean. I've always been fascinated with the families who have their rituals and seem to really get along...

A big family has always been my dream too... but hey, we have what we have and we just have to be thankful for that:) you're gorgeous! Have a great week you too :)

Hi! I've been a follower of your blog for a long time now and I just felt the need to comment on this entry because it hits so close to home for me. I am also from a small and somewhat broken-up family and likewise it has always been just my sister and I so growing up I was never excited about the usual big holidays where huge family gatherings are the norm. I really respect and appreciate you being so honest in your entries and opening yourself up to all your readers! And I completely understand the family drama...I mean a lot of Asian families have them but I swear us Koreans just have it really bad haha. Thank you again for writing such an entertaining, fashionable and informative blog.

Always a Fan,
Christine

I love KFC way better than turkey anyway. My thanksgiving was a little unconventional as well. Since my husband's side of the family had all the turkey, stuffing, etc...my dad usually cooks lamb, salmon, and everything else you wouldn't normally find at a typical thanksgiving table.

On another note, I love that dress. It's very beautiful and romantic.

denise said...

haha oh man ninja assassin..you liked it!??! the story was pretty retarded..and rain looks like a 12 yr old boy hahaha. we went to the premiere so he was there too and all the middle aged chinese ladies went totally gaga over him it was so funny..they can't even pronounce his name properly hahaha.

Sorry to hear about your uncle. Holidays here can do that to you. I love the whole hoopla about the holidays that goes on for about 2 months here, but it makes you miss having a whole big family around you.Its not the best feeling, but just go with the flow and lets thank god for what we have. these words are as much for you as they are for me. Hope you are having a good week.
