Flower Antlers

il_fullxfull.220364924il_fullxfull.252820934il_fullxfull.252859125il_fullxfull.210231823

These antlers with flowers are all photographed by Kari Herer. Funny thing is, despite being a strict pescetarian, I've been long collecting antlers and skulls ever since I was little (you can see a tiny glimpse of it in my SF apt) and I even have a huge love for taxidermy (those in SF, you must visit Paxton Gate!)
I'm happy I found these beautiful photographs as I can try something like this on some of my antlers (I already tried it on my steer head.)

Btw, did you know while horns are kept for life, antlers fall off each year and regrow bigger? So don't fret when you see a pair of antlers! ;)

I've been seeing lots of antlers in people's apartments but I really like the addition of the flowers for a nice spring makeover.

this combination totally reminds me of Georgia O'Keefe's paintings when she moved to new mexico, very surreal and beautiful!

Love the way the 'death' of the antlers integrates with the 'life' of the flowers. What a cool item of decor to have/ make.

That is actually really cool, I like how the flowers "feminize" the antlers.. just like sugar skulls! haha

You know, when I first came to the states, my cousin's husband hunts and would have deer heads (yeah, yuck!) and what not hanging around their house. I was forever traumatized as a child but this is actually a pleasant look that I wouldn't mind. Thanks for showing me the prettier side :)

Interesting photos...I think the antlers growing falling off and growing back make it even more beautiful to collect them or make art out of them...

I actually have one of Kari's prints! The 3rd one to be exact. She actually sent me two for the price of one, because she recently had a baby and couldn't remember if she had sent me one already. So sweet of her. I ended up giving one as a gift. I discovered her work and her Etsy shop through another blog. Adore! Thinking of purchasing another one! :)

Flowers and antlers!
I've been drawing a deer with roses lately... Thanks for the inspirational photos!

Those are lovely, thanks for sharing! I particularly like the second shot. I go for a natural history aesthetic in design as well. It's never occurred to me to use antlers in a modern as opposed to lodge-y way, but it's a great idea.

LOVE the last one - I have a thing with drawing things on walls and then adding three-dim objects to em. Gorgeous! :)
