I live in Chicago and if you like pizza you absolutely must go to Giordano's and get a Chicago style stuffed pizza...it really is mind blowingly good =] But just eat as much local food as possible...we like our brunch here too.

OHMYGOSH! YES! there are so many great places to go to! wicker park is the hipster neighborhood, there's good vintage places there as well as the ukranian village(these are neighborhoods in the west side of the city) I'm from the north suburbs, so i'm usually in the north side of the city. Belmont/Clark(A.K.A boystown) has some great places too. Belmont Army, i think you would like(it was originally the belmont surplus store). hmmm....places to eat, go to melie cafe in greektown, which is not too far from downtown. it has some really great breakfast food! i'm assuming it's your first time in Chicago, i think you really should be sucked into doing the touristy stuff, like shopping on the Magnificent Mile(Topshop is there + Ghirardelli's + Hershey's right across!) would i be able to meet you at the Macy's Bar III event?! I have been an avid reader since your S.F. start!!!

as for Chicago... omygosh. where to even start! my favorite bar in the world is in chicago- the violet hour. as for food, i love avec, tango sur, cafe ba ba reeba, maxwell street dogs (post drinking), kuma's, lou malnati's, giordano's, yolk, orange, ann sather. i've heard great things about girl and the goat, gilt bar, the aviary (we actually had reservations but the guy i was dating at the time ix-nayed it b/c we wouldn't have a table to ourselves. sourpuss). there are SOOO many good restaurants in chicago! i want to eat at alinea but reservations, again, are hard to come by. i could spend hours at the art institute and the science museum. and at the bean. haha. i hope you love chicago :)

Chicago is one of the best cities in the country! I'm definitely biased since I've lived here for the past four years (and lived in Illinois for the past 15 years), but it really is a beautiful city. Definitely check out downtown Chicago, if you can, get lunch at NoMi at the Park Hyatt - they have the best view and really great food (and yummy mimosas). Hit up Ikram for the best designer clothes selection you'll ever see. Try and get out of downtown though, the best places in Chicago are away from Michigan Av. and the tourist spots. Lincoln Park has the best boutiques and vintage shopping like MOI Boutique on Halsted.
